Former New England Patriot Aaron Hernandez won’t fade away even in death.
His defense attorney Jose Baez is set to release a book that he wrote titled Unnecessary Roughness: The Life and Death of Aaron Hernandez on August 21.
According to the Associated Press, the attorney is promising “shocking revelations.”
Hachette Books has stated that the book was done in cooperation with Hernandez’s fiancée, Shayanna Jenkins.
So much so that Jenkins wrote the forward. The publisher went on to state that this will be the “definitive, insider” story.
The tight end was found hanging in his cell on April 19 as he served a life sentence for the 2013 murder of Odin Lloyd.
This feels like a money grab and could certainly be viewed as a something that is being done in poor taste.
Young men are dead for a variety of different reasons and families and children have been left to deal with the aftermath of it all.
With Jenkins being involved judgement should be held regarding the book’s tone but when terms like “shocking revelations” are being thrown around like grenades, it’s hard not to be pessimistic.
In his final letter to Jenkins, Hernandez did encourage her to speak his truth.
“You have always been my soul-mate and I want you to live life and know I’m always with you,” he wrote. “I told you what was coming indirectly! I love you so much and know you are an angel … We split into two to come change the world!”
He went on to ask her to “tell my story fully but never think anything besides how much I love you. This was the supremes, the almightys plan, not mine! I love you! Let [redacted] know how much I love her! Look after [redacted] and [redacted] for me — those are my boys. (YOU’RE RICH).
