2015 was housed some major moments in fashion, let’s take a look back at what rocked the industry and the world.

Fashion Week Finds a New Home

For five years, New York Fashion Week held residency at Lincoln center, It seemed that it was going to be a permanent home for the shows until the bomb was dropped weeks before the women’s collections that Mercedes-Benz would no longer be a sponsor (WWD).

You cannot keep a good show down though. But, by April Fashion week found two new homes, Skylight at Moynihan Station, and Skylight at Clarkson Sq.

NYFW’s debut came with exhilarating and creative shows like Nikolas K.’s futuristic desert inspired designs.

Caitlyn Jenner Makes The Cover of Vanity Fair

There had been whispers for the past few years about Caitlyn (Bruce Jenner) undergoing changes to his appearance becoming more feminine. Finally in April of this year he came out as transgender in an interview with Diane Sawyer. But, it was still unknown what he looked like after his full transformation.

In true champion fashion, Bruce debuted his true self “Caitlyn” on the cover of Vanity Fair shot by none other than Annie Liebovitz.

Christian Audiger Passes Away 

If you were a teen in the early 2000’s you know Christian Audiger was behind some of the go-to casual wear for young Hollywood.

Everyone from Paris Hilton, Britney Spears, to Ashton Kutcher were seen in the designers trucker hats with Von Dutch and tees for Ed Hardy. The 57 year old Frenchman also designed for Diesel, Guess, and Levi’s in his career.

Audiger died of Cancer, on July 9th.

Alber Elbaz leaves Lanvin

It was a total shock to the fashion world when creative director of Lanvin, Alber Elbaz was forced out of the French design house suddenly in November.

The story is still dramatically unfolding, the designer’s severance package is estimated to be upwards of $50 million when the issue is settled.

We are sure to hear more about it in the new year.

Alexander Wang Leaves Balenciaga

The young and talented designer Alexander Wang turned the Paris runway of Balenciaga into a meld of French Fashion and American Hip-hop.

The designer bumped Notorious B.I.G, Snoop Dogg, and Tupac Shakur in his farewell show for Balenciaga.

It was a mutual break up, between the designer and the brand but there was no doubt that the final show was a closing of one chapter and opening of another.

Mr. Wang is said to be focusing on his own successful name brand going forward.

Model Meltdown at Rick Owens

Designer Rick Owens is known for having controversial fashion show’s but during his SS16 Men’s fashion show, one of Owen’s models walked down the runway holding a sign that said “Please Kill Angela Merkel—NOT.”

Owens was not in on the joke and punched the model in the face.

Kendall Jenner Hits Supermodel Status

Last year Kendall Jenner burst onto the modelling scene strutting her stuff on the runways of New York. T

his year, she took the modelling scene by storm becoming the face of Fendi, Estee Lauder, Calvin Klein, closing the show for Chanel, walking for Versace, and most recently the Victoria’s Secret Fashion show.

It’s pretty safe to say, Kendall has had the best year ever.

Balmain Collaborates with H&M

Creative director of Balmain Oliver Rousteig and the execs over at H &M came up with the ultimate collaboration this fall that captured the attention of millions of fashion fans around the world. Everyone and their mother were lined up around the block for days in anticipation for the launch of the Balmain for H & M collection.

The affordably priced collection sold out in store, and online all over the world and video’s of the mad dash went viral.

NYFW Men’s Debut

In a new move by the even planners at IMG, NYFW Men’s debuted in July.

The launch of the first ever Men’s New York Fashion week was a smash hit and the city was buzzing with more excitement than it did for the women’s shows.

Designers like Ricardo Seco, and Sergio Davila showed that their designs were just as exciting and noteworthy as the garments showcased at women’s fashion week in September.

FLOTUS breaks the internet

If you’re not in love with her infectious smile, her amazingly fit arms, or her killer sense of humor, we are pretty sure Michelle Obama won most fashionable FLOTUS with her 2015 China state dinner gown.

The First Lady dawned an absolutely gorgeous off the shoulder Vera Wang gown, taking ours and the President’s breath away.

Pictures of the FLOTUS flooded Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter for days and solidified her as the ultimate girl crush. Brains, brawn, and chic? The FLOTUS is #GOALS.
