The Cleveland Browns and the No. 1 overall pick Myles Garrett have gotten the deal done.
The Browns announced Friday that Garrett signed his four-year, fully guaranteed rookie contract.
According to the Cleveland Plain Dealer, the deal is worth $30.4 million with a $20.25 million signing bonus. As is the case with first-rounders, the deal comes with a team option for a fifth season.
Garrett has already set the bar high for himself in Cleveland.
His rookie camp has drawn rave reviews from coaches and teammates as he explodes off the edge in pass rushing situations.
“I’m just impressed with his demeanor and his willingness to learn and his humbleness,” veteran teammate Joe Thomas said of Garrett, “but also you see that fire that’s burning inside him to be great and I think those are the hallmarks of guys that have a chance to be really excellent football players.”
Thomas went on to say that his experience on the other side of the trenches can help shape Garrett’s perspective mentally.
“So it will be fun for me, too, to be able to try to help as best as I can and try to get him to think like an offensive tackle and hopefully turn him into the great player I think he can be.”
