Legendary Bruce Springsteen is heading to Broadway for a simplistic show titled Springsteen on Broadway. The artist is set to play five nights a week for eight weeks at the 960 capacity Walter Kerr Theatre. These Broadway shows, which will begin October 3rd, are new for Springsteen, showing a different side of the rocker. On his website, Springsteen was quoted saying,
“I wanted to do some shows that were as personal and as intimate as possible. I chose Broadway for this project because it has the beautiful old theatres which seemed like the right setting for what I have in mind.”
Jordan Roth, President of Jujamcyn Theaters, which owns the Walter Kerr, added,
“Bruce Springsteen is one of our greatest musical storytellers, and Broadway is built on a beloved tradition of musical storytelling. What a once-in-a lifetime thrill for all of us at Jujamcyn to welcome Bruce home to his rightful place in the Broadway legacy.”
The show will be simple and emotionally captivating. Springsteen says,
“My show is just me, the guitar, the piano and the words and music. Some of the show is spoken, some of it is sung. It loosely follows the arc of my life and my work. All of it together is in pursuit of my constant goal to provide an entertaining evening and to communicate something of value.”
Reaching such iconic heights in his career, Springsteen is looking to do something different that really connects him with fans. These Broadway shows bring the musician back to the early days of his career, playing intimate spots such as Cafe Wha? in Greenwich Village.
With only a 960 seat capacity, fans will have to act quickly to secure seats for this unique Springsteen experience.
Tickets to the show go on sale from 10am on Wednesday 30th August. However, fans will need to register for access to the sale from today until 27th August.
