First Look: Jessica Jones returns for Season two

jesssicajones2After a nice run with The Defenders Jessica Jones  is back.

Krysten Ritter returns as the unconventional detective, for round deuce of Netflix’s popular Marvel series.

In addition to Ritter, the returning cast includes Rachael Taylor as Trish Walker, Carrie-Anne Moss as Jeri Hogarth, and Eka Darville as Malcolm Ducasse. New cast members include Janet McTeer and J.R. Ramirez, among others.

Following the events of season one, Jessica reopens  Alias Investigations. Her biggest unsolved mystery still haunting her though is her own.

The trailer starts with the fiery car accident that killed Jessica’s parents. After the unwanted notoriety gained from her stint in The Defenders, Jessica is now having to deal with being seen as a hero in the same vein as Captain America.

The once non-visible blip on the radar, Alias Investigations catches the eye of a rival private investigations wanting to take out their competition by absorbing Alias.

But at the basis of this first look trailer, it shows a lost and confused Jessica looking for 17 years worth of unanswered questions regarding her life.

The first glimpse of Trish Walker arrives as Jessica confides in her. Trish urges Jessica to find out the truth. Knowing what happened to her might help.

This season looks to delve deep into Jessica’s superhuman origins and the inhumane procedures that were performed on her.

Jessica speaks wit a mysterious older woman cryptically telling her that Jessica died in her parents’ car accident and that the powers were a side effect of her rebirth.

However, the most interesting revelation in the trailer is when Jessica discovers that she wasn’t the only one experimented on. Others like her are out there and some of them could be very dangerous.

Flashes of Jessica investigating numerous grisly murder scenes begs the question ‘is this the work of  the other test subjects? ‘

Fearing for her safety, Trish wants to be Jessica’s partner to watch her back. Trish holds her own as she beats down an attacker, continuing her side story from season one.

On the printed page, Trish becomes the vigilante Hellcat. That would certainly be a nice reveal for this run.

The trailer ends with Jessica ominously saying ‘it takes a monster to stop a monster.’   Jessica glares over her shoulder at a pair of clapping hands surrounded by a familiar shade of purple.

Kilgrave? But it can’t be him…right?

Jessica Jones Season 2 premieres on Netflix March 8, 2018.
