Beauty blogger, Makeup Shayla, has collaborated with Maybelline to create her own version of the brand’s popular City Mini Palette. This isn’t the first time the beauty guru collaborated with Maybelline. In January, she created three new shades for the Colossal Big Shot Mascara.
In an interview with Refinery 29, Shayla shared her inspiration for the palette saying, “When I created this collection I wanted to make sure that it was completely inclusive and that anyone could wear it, no matter their skin tone.”
Shayla has 2.5 million followers on Instagram and over 400,000 subscribers on her Youtube channel. Her loyal followers look to her for advice on applying makeup, reviews of new products, and entertaining sneak peeks into her life.
Now, let’s talk about the palette.
Maybelline describes the inspiration behind the palette as representative of the different moods of New York. They also made the palette travel size so it would be easy to toss in a handbag or suitcase on the go.
The shades vary from warm neutrals to dark tones. The lightest color is pale nude and the darkest color is a dark gray/black shade. Maybelline and Shayla also included shimmery bronze and burgundy shades.
In the picture above you can see how the palette looks on three different skin tones, and as Shayla hoped, it looks equally amazing on each arm. The palette doesn’t contain any shades that are outlandish or risky. Each shade is easy to use and appeals to every woman, despite their skin tone or expertise in using makeup.
We are excited to see what’s next for Shayla x Maybelline and are staying hopeful for future collaborations.
