The Trickle Down is Salute Magazine’s weekly column by Political Writer Amanda Godula. The Trickle Down is a weekly look into what’s need-to-know, fresh takes on trends, and the inevitable controversies from the political arena. This week let’s send a message: The Irony of the Clinton Email Scandal This Week.
Let’s get it out there – Hillary Clinton had an email scandal.
Let’s be clear: what Hillary Clinton did was reckless, egregious, and downright irresponsible. Clinton used a private server and handled classified information on it. It could have been hacked. It was not hacked. Clinton was not charged with anything.
Yet, the could-have-been-hacking-that-never-was did not disseminate classified information to foreign governments.
JUST KIDDING. That did happen, just not with Clinton. That was our current president.
This week, we learn Trump revealed classified information during his meeting with the Russians. (Ironically, the American media was banned from attending, but not Russian.) In one meeting, Trump declassified information, where it’s now believed that Israel was the source of the information. We know that because of the president’s comments.
And reminder, Clinton’s actions were deemed not criminal.
Thanks Darrell – but same question, except let’s switch Hillary Clinton for Donald Trump. What’s your response? *Crickets.*
No one needed to hack servers, emails, or utilize “wiretapping” – one just needs a meeting with the president.
We elected the declassifier-in-chief, yet there are no pitchforks. Where are the same people calling the “Lock her up!” chants? Where is the ire that created the “Clinton for Prison” movement?
The irony of the lack of anger towards this is astounding.
Are we truly not concerned, really looking for information, actually without comment about giving Russia classified information? It’s hard to believe that. It’s most likely more accurate that it’s what it typically is – just partisan politics.
