For the second time in two seasons, Jay Bruce is on the move. After going from Cincinnati to the Big Apple last season, the Mets have agreed to trade Bruce to the Cleveland Indians.
Bruce’s name came up in trade talks before the deadline, but nothing formulated in time. With the loss of Michael Brantley to injury, Bruce became a great fit for the reigning American League champions.
Of Bruce’s $13 million salary, $3.7 million will fall to Cleveland over the rest of the season.
In return, the Mets receive 22-year-old minor league pitcher Ryder Ryan, who was drafted by Cleveland in 2016.
