Actress/comedian, Michelle Wolf, has successfully landed her own weekly Netflix talk show.
The show, which currently does not have a title, will give audiences a break from the humdrum seriousness of typical late-night comedy. Instead of making the news fun, Wolf will choose to make fun of everything and everyone. No political agenda or preaching here…unless its funny. During her HBO stand-up debut, Michelle Wolf: Nice Lady, that aired in New York last year, Wolf received rave reviews. Wolf knows how to keep her jokes fresh without having to heavily rely on news headlines as most comedians do.
Wolf has gotten her feet wet working on shows such as The Daily Show and Late Night with Seth Meyers. Wolf had a recurring fictional persona on the Late Night program know as “Grown-Up Annie.” She is known for her high energy during her standups but even more for her high pitched voice.
Another trait people point to is her recognizable laugh. A laugh which Late Show host Seth Meyers says he misses. Chris Rock personally invited her to open for his 2017 comedy tour. Wolf was also an accomplished writer on both television programs. Now the moment has arrived for Wolf to host her own show. Wolf was quoted as saying “You can expect the types of jokes my former bosses would tell me we couldn’t do on TV.”
“We’re thrilled to be working with Michelle, a gifted writer, and performer with a singular voice,” said Bela Bajaria, Vice President of Content at Netflix.
Wolf will Executive Produce through her Cats in Pants banner. Daniel Bodansky will also Executive Produce. Dan Powell (Inside Amy Schumer) and Christine Nangle (The President’s Show, The Mick) will serve as co-showrunners and Executive Producers.
