DC Comics will be giving Wonder Woman a new creative team starting this fall. This new team will comprise of writer James Robinson (“Starman, JSA: The Golden Age,” “Earth 2″), Carlo Pagulayan (“Deathstroke,” “Batman and Robin Eternal”) and Emanuela Lupacchino (“Supergirl,” “Superwoman,” “Starfire”). The team will start writing from issue No. 31 and will begin their six-month run with the new story arc, “Children of the Gods.”
Robinson, Pagulayan and Lupacchino will answer one of the biggest questions of the year: Who is Wonder Woman’s brother? This mystery has loomed around since “Justice League: Darkseid War” and throughout the Rebirth series. All that is really known about Wonder Woman’s twin brother is that he was the only male born on the island of Themyscira. He was taken away in the dead of night and has been hidden somewhere far from the sight of gods and men. His life and Wonder Woman’s are about to intersect in a terrifying way, bringing them face-to-face with a cosmic threat they never imagined!
James Robinson is a GLAAD-award nominee who will be great for the next epic of Wonder Woman. This new epic promises to bring something new to her 75 years of history. Giving her a brother adds a new dynamic without taking anything away. It provides a genuine mystery that fans will want to read about.
Bryan Hitch has already released a cover for Wonder Woman #31 which features Wonder Woman, Darkseid’s daughter Grail, and Giganta.
It seems that Diana Prince will encounter both Grail and Giganta as she searches for her brother. It is unclear whether they will be working with Diana or opposing her. Many questions still come from the synopsis given. Where is Jason hiding? What cosmic forces will Diana and Jason have to deal with? Does this have anything to do with Doctor Manhattan or the greater Rebirth mystery?
Hopefully some answers will be revealed when Wonder Woman No. 31 hits stores on Sept. 27.
