Time travel doesn’t seem possible, but when you’re wearing Prada, anything can happen.
Now that it is resort season, all of our favorite brands are giving us the best designs for us to floss on vacation. It felt as though Miuccia had outdone herself with the beautifully chic 1970s inspired designs for the fall collection that showed in February, but resort may have that one beat.
Prada is known for being structured, smart, and very versatile. In these latest designs, Miuccia added a softness that is rarely seen in many of the designs she has presented in the last few years. For resort, she took the designs back to the 1920s. The garments, although structured carried nods to 1920s architecture and styling. The knee socks with chevron-like detailing at the top and pillar detailing down the calf were worn with pointed toe mary-janes with silver capped toes, which gave the nod the Gatsby days of old.
Simple shirt-dresses with a pale color blocking of pink and yellow were transformed with chiffon and feather detailing along the arms and hemline for a softly structured look. The models wore their parted down the middle in two braids. When accented with the elastic feathered headbands, the look reminded us of the flapper dancers that entertained the speakeasies of New York, only some of these ladies are wearing sneakers instead of heels. A few of our favorite looks from the collection are featured below.
The Prada brand found its niche long ago by creating clothing that walks the line between masculine and feminine in a way that is versatile and yet unique. This collection is a highlight in that history of melding the two worlds. To view the entire Resort 2018 collection click the video below via YouTube. To shop the collection visit: www.prada.com
