Migos may be on top of the charts, Quavo has been accused of robbery.
According to sources at the NYPD, rapper Quavious Marshall (Quavo) from the chart-topping group, Migos, may have been involved in a brawl with New York City’s Eric The Jeweler (below). Everything kicked off at an afterparty for the Grammy Awards. According to Billboard, Eric the Jeweler filed a police report claiming that he approached Quavo about a debt that wasn’t even his to pay.
The jeweler who makes custom jewelry for celebrities like Snoop Dogg, approached Quavo at 1Oak NYC‘s afterparty trying to collect a $10k debt that was owed to him by Migos member Offset. Allegedly, Quavo and an unnamed man he was with assaulted Eric and snatched his $30k chain.
Now, almost two weeks into the investigation, New York City law enforcement says they may have enough evidence to charge the Atlanta rapper. Quavo’s attorney Drew Findling told TMZ that his client is “innocent” and “this is yet another example of a young African-American hip-hop star potentially being treated unfairly by the criminal justice system.”
Although this is happening, there has been no warrant issued for Quavo’s arrest. In the wake of these events, one lesson that can be learned from this mess is to never approach another person about a debt that isn’t theirs to pay.
