R&B artist, Shaun B, recently released visuals for his single “Savage”. The song is a single off od Shaun B’s latest project Cocaine in the Evening.
The visuals were shot and direct by Atlanta Photographer Cam Kirk, who has worked with many artists including Gucci Mane, Young Jeezy, T.I., Young Thug, and Future.
The visuals for the song are only a minute long, but it’s long enough to catch your attention. The reason why it’s so short is to create a sense of “suspense and anticipation” through visuals.
The video features a woman in a mask and some ropes. Is this a video inspired by the 50 Shades of Grey franchise or does it serve as the imagery for the types of pain and pleasure that people go through in relationships? Everyone should probably just listen to Cocaine in the Evening to figure it out.
According to Shaun B ” ‘Savage’ was a reflection of a literal situation that happened”. He goes on to explain that it came about after a girl put her number in his phone.
Everything thing that happened after that became the song. Shaun B’s point of view on the whole situation is “talk is cheap especially when it comes to intimacy”.
Those who listen to Cocaine in the Evening will be privy to smooth melodies, slow tempos, and simply great music. Shaun B’s sound is the kind that plays with the senses. It penetrates the mind and creates a sense of euphoria. Nothing is forced, its all an organic type of sound.
Shaun B is an artist out of Atlanta, the city that is taking over when it comes to Hip-Hop and R&B. Even though Atlanta is known mostly for Trap music, many talented artists have started their careers in the city.
Every year Atlanta gives the world hot singles and new artists, especially during the Summer time. It’s become one of the places to be in terms of the entertainment industry. Shaun B wants to use his music to demonstrate just how dynamic Atlanta artists can be.
Cocaine in the Evening is a follow-up project to Shaun B’s previous project Cocaine in the Morning. It displays the natural progression that Shaun B has taken in his music. He plans on releasing three more projects this year: Songs About Women, Zones, and Cocaine at Midnight.
