Stefano Gabbana: Sexual Harassment “It’s Not Violence”

Someone get Uncle Stefano.

We should be used to people saying dumb things in this day and age, shouldn’t we? Italian designer Stefano Gabbana opened his mouth and directly inserted his foot.

Stefano Gabbana, one half of the design duo behind luxury brand Dolce and Gabbana, has successfully inserted his foot into his mouth once again in a new interview with  British Vogue magazine. Gabbana, who is known for speaking his mind very loudly, was offensively vocal when discussing sexual harassment.

“It’s not new!” Gabbana protests. “Luchino Visconti asked Helmut Berger and Alain Delon to go in the bed… But listen, you decide. It’s true. Everybody knows. After twenty years you say, ‘Ah! He touched my ass!’ It’s not violence, this,” he argues. “Who doesn’t do sex? Who doesn’t? It’s a trend. Now the trend is sex. But sex is an old story. We are Italian. We came from the Roman Empire. We know very well.”

Since the article ran on November 16th, it seems Gabbana has taken the hashtag, #fakenews, of his patron Melania Trump’s husband Donald and posted this message on November 20th, explaining a previous facepalm moment where he and Domenico Dolce spoke some very disagreeable words about people using surrogates and IVF treatments to have children.

I am opposed to marriage in general I do not like “love contracts” I can not swear eternal love to someone because I do not know my future. I have never been opposed to any kind of adoption I do not feel able to adopt for fear of not being able to love in the due way.

Nature has decided that not everyone is having the chance to procreate I am one of these. but does not mean that I am against other possibilities. I respect the ideas different from myself therefore also respect you !!!

So A Time For All My Light Thoughts About These Arguments !!! That Written on newspapers or sites have often been instrumentalized by my thoughts !!! Good life to everyone

Knowing before judging others’ opinions is substantial not to fall in the danger of #fakenews!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ #lamoreèbellezza #DGIS

If you didn’t know, in 2015 in an interview with Panorama magazine, Dolce & Gabbana ruffled many feathers with their comments on using surrogates to have children.

“children of chemistry, synthetic children. Uteruses for rent, semen chosen from a catalog.”- Stefano Gabbana

“I am gay, I cannot have a child. I guess you cannot have everything in life,” Dolce added. “Life has a natural course, some things cannot be changed. One is the family.”- Domenico Dolce

Two years later, Mr. Gabbana still loves to speak his mind very loudly. His apology via Instagram seems a bit disingenuous, and with these latest comments, he doesn’t even appear misguided. His words are careless and offensive to anyone who has endured harassment. We hope, that with time and reflection, Mr. Gabbana learns the errors of his ways, or at least learn that his words can, and do, hurt others.
