Fashion Icon, clothing designer, and former “Spice Girls” singer Victoria Beckham has partnered with Target for an affordable fashion line.
In the days of fast fashion, collaborations between artists, designers, and retail chains are becoming the norm. Stores like H&M have raked in millions from their partnerships with celebrities. So, it was inevitable that the pop icon turned fashion designer, Victoria Beckham would partner up with a more affordable retail chain at some point.
Target was one of the first retail chains to do high-end designer collaborations, and they have worked with some of the most prestigious names in the game. Collections from Phillip Lim, Zac Posen, Jason Wu, Alexander McQueen, and even legendary Jean Paul Gaultier, have all been target exclusives as far back as 2007.
Unlike many other brands that have done collaborations with celebrities and designers, Target seems to be selective with who they bring into the fold. Many of the artists who have partnered with the chain are some of the most talented and renowned in the game. Bringing Beckham in is a testament to how far this former pop star has come in her career as a designer. In an interview with the Today Show, Beckham stated that she had been toying with the idea of making a more affordable line for some time.
“I loved the idea of opening the brand up to a wider audience and being able to share my vision with a broader customer base.”
As you may know, her high-street line has some amazing and classic designs, but it also comes with a hefty price point for average consumers. This line with Target is the perfect blend of style and price for the fashionable woman who doesn’t have designer money to spend. The collection comes in a wide range of styles including beautiful floral separates, frilly bright tops, and flowing smart dresses. Something that makes this collection anticipated is that it includes sizes from 0-3X. Here are some of the Plus styles (Below).
Victoria shared her favorite look; a two-piece black set of trousers and a matching button down with a beautiful calla lily print on her Instagram page.
One of the best and unique twists to Beckham’s line with Target is that there are matching styles for little girls. Beckham who is known for having her own fashionable little girl Harper got her daughter involved in creating the corresponding children’s line. Victoria shared an adorable interview with InStyle magazine on her Instagram where she had a Q&A session with a bunch of lovely girls Harper’s age.
If you haven’t gotten excited about this collection yet, Victoria gave us a blast from the past and used the song “Spice Up Your Life” for the official commercial (below)!
The VBxTarget collection will be available April 9, in stores and online at Target.com.
