It’s been a long four years without him, but Edgar Wright (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World) is finally back in action. I wrote about the upcoming Baby Driver a while back, but now we’re getting our first real look.
The action film will star Ansel Elgort, Jamie Foxx, Jon Hamm, Lily James and Kevin Spacey. All signs point to this movie being a worthy successor to the Edgar Wright lineage, which already has a number of classics.
Baby Driver premiered last night at SXSW, and everything so far from those in attendance is pure excitement and positivity. The new trailer was posted last night to go along with the festival premiere.
It’s full of the visual flair that makes Wright’s work so special, from the match cut of the coffee cup and the elevator button to the tiny pop zoom on Baby’s face when he’s asked what he does for a living. Taking little moments and making them interesting is one of Wright’s gifts, and it’s clearly on display here, alongside the big action scenes.
Anything and everything you need to know about the movie is in this trailer, though, so without further ado, here it is, along with the new poster. Baby Driver will open on August 11.
