Gucci is throwing us back to the 70s with their Pre-Fall Campaign “Soul Scene.”
At NYFW in February, Gucci gave us all of the funky vibes of the 1970’s. Since the takeover by creative director Alessandro Michele, the brand has made a resurgence as one of the most sought after brands by luxury buyers.
As we mentioned previously, Gucci is one of the brands that has been seeking out models of color to increase diversity in the fashion industry. In this pre-fall video, they served serious “Cooley-High” vibes.
According to the to Gucci’s YouTube page, the video was inspired by the photography of West African photographer Malick Sidibe. Sidibe was known for his black and white street photography, and everyday scenes in the 1960s and 70s. Over the last few seasons, many designers have taken cues from the 1970s for their collections, and Gucci was one of them that did it the best.
