In November the fate of the DC Cinematic Universe will hang its survival on the success of the Justice League ensemble flick.
After a recent run of production setbacks and the distorted perception that Warner/DC just can’t get it right, this film must do Avengers numbers to maintain the brand’s vision into the future.
For all intents and purposes, the film looks incredible for a variety of reasons. Starting with the tone of what we have seen thus far, the vibe seems to be lighter than the gothic Batman Vs Superman.
And though Batman vs. Superman was better than the critics said it was, it was still a very serious movie that ended on a serious downer that left a lot of loose ends.
Before November, Wonder Woman will get her solo bow. That leads to today’s subject whose latest trailer was released on Saturday.
The punch lines that get traded between Batman and Flash will anchor the lighter side as the team comes together to fight their intergalactic foe.
Aquaman gets a lot of screen time as does Cyborg. The elephant in the room is how director Zack Snyder will bring Superman back to lie to join this squad.
When questioned by USA Today on the matter, the usually forthcoming visionary provided more questions than answers.
“It’s hard to have a Justice League without Superman. That’s how I feel about it,” Snyder laughed. “It was always a super-intriguing concept to me to have this opportunity to have him make that sacrifice but also have him be this, in a weird sort of way, the why of Justice League: What do you do now with him? What does the team think? What does the world need? All that comes into play. It’s fun for us but it’ll be interesting for audiences what we do with him.”
