Alternative R&B singer-songwriter Kelela continues to impress with her provocative new music video for the song, “Blue Light,” her latest single from her full-length debut album, Take Me Apart, available Warp Records. In her new music video, from Parisian director Helmi, the 34-year-old songstress accentuates her ravishing good looks with pitch-perfect vocals and futuristic fashion-sense.
Kelela first hit the scene in 2013, with the release of her debut mixtape, Cut 4 Me, which was produced several electronic artists signed to the UK label, Night Slugs, including Nguzunguzu, Girl Unit, Morri$, Kingdom, and Jam City. Two years later she released her first EP, Hallucinogen, which hit no. 4 on Billboard‘s Top Dance/Electronic Albums in 2015.
The latest single from her debut LP, “Blue Light” was co-produced by the Night Slugs label’s founder Alex Sushon, a.k.a. Bok Bok, New York DJ Dubbel Dutch, with Rechtshaid, Terror Danjah, and Maroof. It was also co-written by fellow-Solange collaborator Nia Andrews and Chicago songwriter Sam Dew.
