Atlanta rapper, Young Dro, has just dropped his latest single “Bassquiat”. The song features London Jae, who is a part of the Hip-Hop group Bankroll Mafia. Other members include T.I., Young Thug, Shad da God and Duke.
Obviously, the title of the song pays homage to the great American artist Jean-Michel Basquiat. It was inspired by the art of music, channeling the process Dro has gone through to head towards where he wants to be musically. This record demonstrates his versatility and growth in his love of music. In true Dro fashion, this song is sure to be another club banger just like “We Be In the City”, proving that he is one of the best rappers to come out of ATL.
It’s like he has the “Midas touch”. Everything Young Dro makes turns to gold and spreads like a wildfire. Two years ago he released “We Be In the City” off his fourth studio album Da Reality Show. That single took over and became the official anthem for Spring/Summer 2015. After that, he dropped “Ugh” another hype track that proved that Dro knows what he’s doing.
Young Dro has a habit of coming and going from the music industry as he pleases. Normally he’ll release music, promote it for awhile, and then back away from the game. Two or three years later he’ll be back with more great music as if he never left. It’s a luxury that only a few artists get to enjoy; most of whom have reached icon status. During this last hiatus, Young Dro decided to spend his time focusing on some much needed family time.
Recently, Dro has been doing interviews and announced that his mixtape Day 3 is coming soon. It’s been almost 10 years since first mixtape Day One came out. He also claimed that another single titled “Bag Secured” would be coming out too.
Since the single literally just dropped, “Basqquiat” is currently only available on Soundcloud. Check out the song below and witness Young Dro’s latest masterpiece.
