Yung Bleu drops first official Gangsta Grillz mixtape

The Drama Continues

Yung Bleu is back with Investments 5.

yung_bleu_investments_5-frontThis the latest installment in the Bad Azz Music Syndicate signed rapper’s mixtape series… and his first to join the ranks of hip-hop titans who have collaborated with DJ Drama on his “Gangsta Grillz” mixtape series—including Lil Wayne, Pharrell, Snoop Dogg, Meek Mill, Nipsey Hussle, Gucci Mane, Rapsody, Jeezy, and countless others.

The 23-year-old Bad Azz Music Syndicate signed rapper’s baritone vocals and rhyme schemes have helped him garner popularity. Following his previous mixtape, Investments IV, the music video for the track, “Be Like That,” went on to get more than 1.2 million views on YouTube as well as some airtime on television.

His latest mixtape opens with “Smooth Operator” featuring Lil Durk, on this fresh new trap beat sampled from the classic 1989 Big Daddy Kane track of the same name. Things slow down on the track “We All We Got,” an introspective track about staying close to friends and family, which he follows with the club banger, “Uzi Vert,” named after the Philadelphia recording artist Lil Uzi Vert.

Bleu links up with Canadian R&B singer Baby C on the track, “Slide Thru,” a truly captivating collaboration, which he follows with the basketball-inspired “Hoop Dreams” featuring Atlanta rappers K Camp and Lil Baby. Another noteworthy track, “Slums,” has a funk-infused melody that allows Bleu to get creative with his flow.

Who better than Boosie Badazz to join Bleu on this track all about becoming self-made men? The founder of the Bad Azz Music Syndicate previously worked with DJ Drama on his own “Gangsta Grillz” mixtape, Streetz is Mine (2006), two years before he was arrested.

The album starts to wind down with “Plotting” featuring Rich Gang rapper Derez Deshon, which he follows with “Boss Ya Life Up” featuring Rich Homie Quan. Investments 5 closes with “Bought a Patek,” an unstoppable banger about buying an expensive watch from legendary Swiss watchmaker Patek Philippe.

With more than 150 mixtapes in DJ Drama’s arsenal, it’s hard to really determine where Investments 5 ranks, but it is undoubtedly fire for a mixtape, leaving listeners wanting to hear more from the young Alabama rapper.
