Between winning awards, hanging out with Drake, and touring the world at various festivals, somehow platinum recording artist The Weeknd found time to record a new album.
The album, Beauty Behind the Madness is set to release on August 28, 2015 according to the singer’s website and social media pages. According to Complex, the release date may have been leaked but the details are not certain. If it was leaked, the Weeknd and his label quickly updated his website to include information for iTunes pre-order information. After the widespread success of his last album, Kiss Land, and his hit “Earned It,” which was featured on the Fifty Shades of Grey soundtrack, his new album is much-anticipated.
The Weeknd first broke on the scene in 2012 with the compilation of his mix tapes entitled The Trilogy which went platinum. His smooth melodies, and sultry tracks, paired with the blunt reality of his “love them and leave them” mentality keeps his fans coming back for more.
His versatile and laid-back style is perfect for collaborating, he has worked with Drake in the past and this past Friday, July 10th, he took the stage to sing with Taylor Swift in New Jersey.
It was also just released that The Weeknd, along with Skrillex, Nicki Minaj, Lil Wayne, and Justin Bieber, will be headlining the inaugural Billboard Hot 100 Festival Aug. 22-23 , at New York’s Nikon at Jones Beach Theater.
The latest single from his new album “Can’t feel my face” debuted at number 24 on the Billboard Hot 100, and recently hit number six on the charts. The song, which was produced by Ali Payami, Max Martin, and Peter Svensson has a great throwback groove, and with channels the Michael Jackson sound of the eighties. If the rest of the album sounds anything like the singles that have been released so far, it will definitely be the buzz of the awards season.
