The MTV Video Music Awards red carpet did not disappoint as sheer gowns, mini dresses and laced front ensembles graced the colorful walkway designed by Jeremy Scott, who also designed the new Moonman for the 32nd annual VMA’s. Black, cream, khaki and gold were the colors of choice for designers who dressed the musical stars for this special night.
Did Kim Kardashian, Kanye West and sister Kylie Jenner color coordinate wearing neutral tones for the night? Kim looked stunning as usual in a brown shoelace front dress with cargo pockets by Olivier Rousteing, while Kanye was casually comfortable in an oversized khaki sweatshirt, t-shirt and cargo pants. Kylie was perfectly put together in a beige long sleeved embroidered mini dress by Balmain making the trio look fashionably in sync.
The mini dress was the style of choice for MTV European Music Award winners Fifth Harmony as they all harmonize well wearing black and cream dresses that complimented each other but could stand alone on any runway. While Britney Spears made her way down the not so red carpet, in a very mini sheer silver and gold sequined dress designed by Kuwaiti fashion house Labourjoisie, showing that this mommy has still got it.
Young Money princess Nicki Minaj was looking like the bell of the ball in her golden sheer Labourjoisie gown that showed off her sexy curves as she received the Best Hip-Hop Video award for her Vevo hit video “Anaconda.” The liquid gold dress received over 390k likes on Instagram by the end of the show. Nicki stayed with the sexy sheer look as she opened the show in a red hot dress with a fringe bottom and was adorned in a “Coming to America” style feathered head dress as she performed “Trini Dem Girls.”
The big surprise of the night is when the Pink Princess was pleasantly surprised to be joined on stage by Taylor Swift wearing a red fringe Tina Turner style mini during Nicki’s performance of “The Night is Still Young” proving that the beef between the two divas over the nomination for Video of the Year has been squashed. The ladies embraced each other after Swift gave a 30 second snippet of her nominated video the hit song “Bad Blood.”
Swift showed a little midriff in a black, silver and gold houndstooth metallic pants set design by Ashish as she received the Best Female Video for “Blank Space” and took home the coveted Video of the Year Moonman for the “Bad Blood” video done with Kendrick Lamar.
Miley Cyrus didn’t disappoint her fans as she stayed true to herself in a variety of outfits that were designed for sheer shock value. Cyrus hit the walkway in a silver mini dress that was very revealing that she paired with some super sexy thigh high boots. The night went on with a number of outfit changes that expressed the “Wrecking Ball” singer’s comical and raw in-your-face style that she is known for.
