The damp weather did not spoil the mood as New York Fashion week kicked into full swing on its second day, Friday, September 11. Sally Lapointe wowed the industry with another show filled with her signature of quiet, sultry, sophistication.
Industry insiders such as Linda Fargo (Bergdorf Goodman) and high profile blogger Leandra Medine (The Man Repeller) bustled into Skylight Modern to view the always classic and sleek designs of Sally Lapointe. Lapointe’s S/S 2016 collection has all of her signature neutral palettes, with a splash of power-red to compliment the duality of the inspiration. LaPointe wanted to bring the many facets of a personality to the surface by creating both mystery and exposure. Unexpected elements are infused throughout the collection with bonded silk viscose, waxed cotton, printed leather and sequins, pleated vinyl and pony, mesh leather, and a variety of hand embroidered beading.
In addition, LaPointe takes a looser approach to traditional women’s wear incorporating subtle heavier menswear influences through oversized and boxy separates. Some of our favorite looks of this collection included, the gorgeous trench coats, hand beaded short-sleeved sweaters, and bonded-silk viscose dresses (pictured below).
LaPointe continues to assert her position as a designer who is dedicated to bringing new classics with each season. An attention to the balance between luxury and minimalism, Lapointe has become a style staple among chic New Yorker’s, and Hollywood elite. Structure, without compromising the femininity of designs is hard to do, but LaPointe seems to deliver time and time again. In an interview earlier this year with the Huffington post, Sally described the woman who wears her collection as feminine, attractive, and even handsome. LaPointe has definitely found a way to walk the line between these descriptions.
As the cool winter months approach, have us pining for the summer, and Sally’s designs give a warm welcome to the upcoming SS2016 season for the sophisticated woman. For more information visit Sallylapointe.com.
