Pardon me for being a little late to the party this week and missing out on picking the Broncos’ defense as a choose or lose candidate in Week 2. Most of you probably had them starting against Alex Smith and the Chiefs anyway though, so congratulations on those massive points from last night’s game. There are multiple teams this week that will be solid and some that fantasy owners probably took way too early in their draft, only to be disappointed in their Week 1 performance.
Rams D vs. Redskins
The Rams defense was all over Russell Wilson and the Seahawks in their 34-31 win last week. They were able to tally six sacks and one interception against the Seahawks’ loaded offense, so how bad will the damage be this week in Washington? It will probably be more of the same with Kirk Cousins as the Redskins’ quarterback.
Dolphins D vs. Jaguars
Poor Jacksonville gets picked on every week, but this is a Dolphins’ defense loaded with talent, unlike the Jaguars’ offense. The Dolphins picked up 15 points against Washington last week in NFL.com leagues and it should be another double-digit day for them against the Jags. It always helps when you have Jarvis Landry returning punts as well, so they are a must-start this week.
Buccaneers D vs. Saints
Anytime you have a defense facing off against Saints’ quarterback Drew Brees, you hold your breath. Throw in the fact that the Bucs got shredded by Titans’ rookie QB Marcus Mariota in Week 1 and this is a disaster waiting to happen. Sure, the Saints’ offense didn’t fare well against the Cardinals, but the Tampa Bay offense was lit on fire by the Titans’ defense also. Stay far away from the Bucs this week with Jameis Winston behind center.
49ers D vs. Steelers
The 49ers played great defense against the Minnesota Vikings on Monday night but now they travel to Pittsburgh and their high-powered offense. San Francisco might be up to the challenge in Week 2 because Le’Veon Bell is still suspended, but DeAngelo Williams was impressive against the Patriots on opening night. The Steelers also have Ben Roethlisberger and Antonio Brown on their offense.
On the Bubble
Bills D vs. Patriots
The Buffalo defense looked good against the Colts and Andrew Luck last week, but in walks Tom Brady and the Patriots. Brady has owned the Bills in his career and is 14-2 with 41 touchdown passes and only 10 interceptions since 2006–many of those games being one-sided for the Pats. The Bills do welcome back suspended defensive tackle Marcell Dareus and the fans at Ralph Wilson Stadium say they are ready to be rocking come Sunday. Plan accordingly for this pick to be really good or really bad.
Seahawks D vs. Packers
The only reason that the Seahawks’ defense lands on the bubble this week instead of under the “lose” designation is because of rookie return man, Tyler Lockett. The Packers will have revenge on their mind for this NBC Sunday Night Football matchup, and that doesn’t bode well for Seattle. If you took this defense before the 10th round of your draft, you are most likely starting them, but beware. Lockett is an added weapon for fantasy defense though…
