Week 5 features some key players once again injured, others are on the cusp of making an appearance for their team. Let’s take a look at the inactives for Week 5.
These are the players ruled out before Sunday.
CB DeAngelo Hall (toe, out); LB Kiko Alonso (knee, out); CB Chris Culliver (knee, out); WR Breshad Perriman (knee, out); TE Eric Ebron(knee, out); TE Vernon Davis (knee, out); RB Marshawn Lynch(hamstring, out); WR DeSean Jackson (hamstring, out); WR Marqise Lee(hamstring, out); RB LeSean McCoy (hamstring, out); WR Cody Latimer(groin, out); WR Dez Bryant (foot, out); RB Taiwan Jones (foot, out); TEJordan Reed (concussion, out); LB John Lotulelei (concussion, out); RBKarlos Williams (concussion, out); TE Crockett Gillmore (calf, out); WRVictor Cruz (calf, out); RB Joique Bell (ankle, out)
This is the list of key players who you need to keep your eye on.
WR Julio Jones (Hamstring/toe, active):
Julio Jones was limited in practice all week long but is expected to play against the Washington Redskins. Jones’ injury is a concern for the Falcons but he’s played well this season with some small injuries anyways. On top of that CB DeAngelo Hall is out of the Redskins, so Julio Jones has to start.
WR Alshon Jeffery (Hamstring, inactive):
Alshon Jeffery was supposed to be able to play based on the injury report earlier in the week but that status has changed. The Bears are not going to rush back Jeffery who has been nursing this hamstring injury. Expect Matt Forte and Martellus Bennett to have even more value against the Chiefs.
TE Julius Thomas (Hand, active):
Julius Thomas came over from the Broncos but injured his hand once he got to Jacksonville. Thomas is expected to make his season debut against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers today and is a viable tight end option at a weak position.
WR Sammy Watkins (Calf, inactive):
Sammy Watkins will be inactive against the Titans this week due to a calf injury. This will open things up for Charles Clay and Percy Harvin.
WR Eddie Royal (Ankle, inactive):
Eddie Royal didn’t practice on a bum ankle all week and he won’t be available against the Chiefs. With no Alshon Jeffery or Royal, that means rookie wideout Marquess Wilson will get more reps this week.
RB Fred Jackson (Ankle, active):
Fred Jackson is expected to play this week against the Cincinnati Bengals. Marshawn Lynch will not be playing so Jackson is expected to share touches with Thomas Rawls this week. Fred Jackson has been reliable for a long time but this week is not a great matchup against the Bengals.
Those are the inactives for Week 5.
