The Houston Texans decided to be a part of the reality TV show on HBO, Hard Knocks. They were hoping to provide insight on how things work in their locker room. However, the Texans reality TV show has spilled over into the regular season.
Head coach Bill O’Brien has maintained a media circus by not definitively deciding who the starting quarterback would be between Ryan Mallett and Brian Hoyer. Then, this past weekend Arian Foster tore his Achilles.
The latest news involving the Texans is Ryan Mallett getting cut by the team because he missed the team’s flight to Miami on Saturday.
According to ESPN, Mallett’s excuse for being late was that he got caught up in traffic. Obviously the backup quarterback didn’t leave early enough if he really had to make the flight.
Bill O’Brien runs a tight ship and he was not happy with the fact that Mallett missed this flight. It wasn’t the first time that Mallett had been late for something.
The former Arkansas QB actually missed a practice the same week that he had been named the starting quarterback earlier in the season. It’s clear Ryan Mallett still doesn’t take his job seriously enough when he’s had opportunities to keep the starting job for good.
NFL Network’s Ian Rappaport broke the news via twitter and said that with only one healthy quarterback on the roster, they’ll look to trade for or sign a veteran quarterback.

Ryan Mallett has $1.75 million dollars worth of guaranteed money that he will receive but it’s unknown as to whether another team will sign him.
