ST. PETERSBERG BOWL
CONNECTICUT (6-6, 4-4 AAC) VS. MARSHALL (9-3, 6-2 C-USA)
UConn will always be known as a basketball school, but they’re football team has still been somewhat competitive over the last couple of years. They kept things close against a solid team in the Navy and they pulled off a big upset over unbeaten Houston to become bowl eligible. Whatever this team doesn’t have in skill, they make up for with heart.
They take on Marshall, who are one year removed from having one of their best seasons in a long time. They did start off the season well against with a win over Purdue and they handled inferior competition. Yet they couldn’t get it done in the big game when they needed to against Middle Tennessee or Western Kentucky.
Both teams are well balanced and I expect them both to come out and play with plenty to prove. Marshall will look to show that they can beat a team that’s in a power conference and UConn will look to at least finish the season above .500.
Marshall are the favorites by five points in this game but I don’t think they’ll be able to match that. This game should be close and UConn will cover but they’ll still lose a close one.
