Bowl Bash Preview – Dec. 26

WASHINGTON (6-6, 4-5 PAC-12) VS. SOUTHERN MISS (9-4, 7-1 C-USA)

The Matchup:

Washington had one of the more up and down seasons in college football this season. They have plenty of talent but their record does not show it. Four of their losses were by 11 points or less against solid Pac-12 competition.

They also have their upsets over USC and Washington State to hand their hat on. Chris Petersen has this team playing with a ton of effort and Freshman quarterback Jake Browning will only get better.

They have a tough matchup against Southern Miss who feature a very high powered offense. Quarterback Nick Mullens had a great year, throwing for more than 4,000 yards and 36 TDs.

The problem is Southern Miss beat up on a soft conference and couldn’t matchup with Western Kentucky in the C-USA title game.

The Prediction:

The bookies were awfully kind to the Huskies, they have them down as nine point favorites over the Golden Eagles. Southern Miss are hurt by the fact that they don’t play in a good conference but I still think they’ll come out with plenty of energy in this game.

Southern Miss still gives up a lot of points which will be their downfall. Washington has a solid defense and it’ll help shut down their offense. I still think it’s a close game and Southern Miss covers.
