Fashion Meets “Final Fantasy” at Louis Vuitton

Nicolas Ghesquiere has taken the classic and innovative house of Louis Vuitton in a new direction with his latest campaign. When the Spring Summer 2016 collection was unveiled in September, it was clear the collection was inspired by Japanese Anime with the dotted eyeliner, and bluntly cut bob of the models. The opening model coincidently looked very much like the character “Lightning” from the popular video game series ‘Final Fantasy’.
This week the coincidence, turned out not to be such a coincidence at all as the designer unveiled a photo (below), and also a video of the anime character starring as the model for the Spring Summer 2016 campaign  via his personal Instagram account. Square Enix, the creator of Final Fantasy has collaborated with Ghesquiere for Vuitton to create a masterfully beautiful mix of fashion meeting fantasy.

When Nicolas took over as creative director in 2014, it was unclear which direction he would take the design house after the long reign of Marc Jacobs. It is now undeniably clear that Ghesquiere has the innovation to catapult the house into a realm all on its own.
