NYFW: Alexander Wang “No After Party”

New York Fashion week is in full swing, and one of the major players, Alexander Wang brought heat once again for the Fall/Winter 2017/18 season.
A spur of the moment sheet of snow on the streets was not enough to keep the crowds of fashion forward influencers and insiders from making it to the Alexander Wang show yesterday. Wang has been focused on his personal brand over the last few years since he left Balenciaga, and this refocus on his family run business is bringing out the best in his designs.
Everyone knows Wang for his intricate way of mixing effortless downtown cool, with uptown chic this season, was a true testament to that fact. Monochrome was the color palette of the season, a sea of black, with hints of gray and silver, were all he needed to create an interchangeable wardrobe for the chicest of downtown girls, or the edgiest of uptown socialites.
Wang brought us a palette of basics that are perfect for the woman on the go, who still wants to add a bit of an edge. Black leather trousers and shorts with an offset button closure were one of the best, most versatile pieces from the collection as shown on Kendall Jenner and Bella Hadid  (below). T-shirts, denim jackets, basic black knits, and plaid suits and coats, gave an easy wearability to the collection.

Mixing sleek, silk silhouettes with textured lace tights gave many of his casually draped dresses a touch of edge that seemed a bit reminiscent of Marc Jacobs’ style of design in the late 90’s.
After an amazing show, the question was, “would there be an after party?” since the hashtag and phrase no after party was being tagged in reference to the show and even showed up on some garments in the show (see below).

Wang is known for his after-parties always being the talk of NYFW, and this season was no different. Teyana Taylor, Kylie,  A$AP Ferg (below), and a bevy of other young celebs turned up to kegs of Peroni into the wee hours of the morning.

It turns out that the phrase “No after Party” is actually the name of an exclusive capsule collection available only at Alexander Wang Stores and online at their website that drops today according to the official Alexander Wang Instagram page.
