Jeremy Meeks recently made his debut as a model at a Philipp Plein runway show during New York Fashion week. The 33-year-old ex-convict from California was nicknamed ‘The Blue Eyed Bandit’ and ‘Jail Bae’ after his mugshot went viral.
In 2014 Meeks’ mugshot was taken at the Stockton Police Department after he was arrested on gun charges; the picture somehow found its way to Facebook. The husband and father of three was indicted on charges of being a felon in possession of a .45 caliber semiautomatic pistol. He also previously served a nine-year sentence for a felony grand theft conviction.
Meeks served two years in prison for the gun charges and was released in March 2016 from the Mendota Federal Correctional Institution in Northern California. After being released from prison the Meeks leveraged his famous looks to trade in his orange jumpsuits for a high fashion modeling career.
He is currently represented by Jim Jordan of White Cross Management, his 6-foot height and chiseled body make him a perfect candidate for modeling. Also, it doesn’t hurt that millions of people, including a few celebrities, were obsessed with a mugshot; which is supposed to be one of the most unflattering photos that a person can take.
Meeks grew his Instagram following to over 700,000 follows, by continuing to post pictures of himself shirtless or sitting in his car while on house arrest. He claimed that the bottom of his driveway was the furthest that he could go. Meeks now lives in a luxury mansion with his family and owns a luxury sports car.
According to New York Magazine celebrities like Desiigner, Fetty Wap, and Young Thug also modeled in the show; while Madonna, Kylie Jenner, and Paris Hilton sat in the front row.
