Versace Stands for Equality in Milan

Milan Fashion week is coming to a close, and as always, Versace brings a dynamic show to a fantastic week of new designs.

As other brands were inspired by the past for their fall/winter 2017 collection, Donatella Versace took grasp of the present and the future for her Versace collection. As everyone is aware, the issues of equality and empowerment for all are at the forefront of daily news as many across the world are being alienated, and their rights come in to question. At the center of this collection, Donatella Versace has made it very clear where her brand stands with each piece that she presented, Versace is a brand firmly planted with equality for all.

The collection, which was shown to a massively packed house, was nothing short of what you would expect from this legendary designer. Bold black suit separates with mesh detailing started the show, transitioning into colorful gradient jackets and dresses in teals and blues that faded into black and gray .

As the designs were revealed the Versace signature of bold, bright colors came into play as beautiful sweaters, coats, and dresses made that were accented with bright colors of red, yellow, white and green. Many of the hats and sweaters had the words Equality, Unity, Love, Loyalty and Courage boldly sewn into the fabric.

As the theme of the season was equality, there were many faces of color that walked the runway. In addition, the favorite supermodels of the moment Bella, Gigi, and Kendall were joined by a surprise guest and runway veteran Supermodel and actress Amber Valletta.

Valletta took to Instagram to show her thanks to her “Versace Family” for closing the show.

“Closing the show tonight at Versace🖤Words can’t describe the emotions and gratitude I feel for my family at Versace. 20 plus years of loyalty and amazing work together! Thank you with all my heart to you @donatella_versace and the whole team at @versace_official. What a beautiful show and thank you for having me. Amazing team”

Valletta is currently known for her acting and environmental activism, specifically her clothing site Master and Muse, which sells clothing made by environmentally responsible manufacturers.

Overall, this season of Versace apparel has brought together the principals of equality and art in a unique way. Gorgeous designs paired with a well thought out and dynamic show establishes once again why Versace has been such a steadfast brand in the industry.
