British soul-pop crooner Sam Smith is back in the lab working on new music. After winning numerous awards, selling out a world tour and racking impressive sales, Smith is ready to break more ground.
Pop-hop producer Timbaland recently spent some time with him and posted a shot on his Instagram account detailing his feelings about their work together.
Typically, one would assume that Smith and his people reeled Timbo in for high-energy dance tracks to bang in the club.
Afterall, it’s become part of the pop formula and after finding success in 2014 with the ballad “Stay With Me,” it’s safe to assume that joy could be Smith’s latest muse.
Not so according to Smith.
“I’m putting my heart even more out on the fucking line. I’m going even deeper. I can’t believe I’m even doing it, but I’m going even deeper,” Smith said of his new material.
Seeing that Timbaland has some experience underneath his belt with Justin Timberlake, does that mean that he penned a “Cry Me A River” style track for Smith?
Time will tell.
Bur after taking much needed time off, Sam Smith could be energized and ready to attack the charts and radio once again.
