Infamous Atlanta Hip-Hop production group, Organized Noize, are releasing an eponymous EP this week. It contains their new single “Kush”, which features Atlanta rapper 2Chainz and singer Joi of The Dungeon Family.
The highly anticipated EP features seven tracks. Joining on the project besides 2chainz are Big Boi of Outkast and popular artist CeeLo Green, who is also a member of the Atlanta Hip-Hop group Goodie Mob. He is currently known for being a major influencer in popular music and one of the original hosts of NBC‘s hit music competition show, The Voice. Also featured on the EP are Big Rube of Society of Soul and Atlanta singer Scar.
Back in the early 90s, it was Organized Noize who was responsible for officially putting Atlanta on the map in Hip-Hop and music in general. It was around the same time that Jermaine Dupri began building his So So Def Record Label. The group consists of Rico Wade, Ray Murray, and singer Sleepy Brown, who also sings on three of the tracks on the EP. Together these men have created hits for artist like Outkast, Goodie Mob, Nappy Roots, En Vogue, and TLC. They are crafted the TLC’s hit single “Waterfalls”, which continues to be a very popular song, especially among karaoke fans. They also contributed soundtracks for Set It Off soundtrack and the Miami Vice film.
Back in 2016, a documentary on the group titled, The Art of Organized Noize was released on Netflix. In the same year, The Dungeon Family and Outkast gathered onstage for a reunion during Atlanta’s OneMusicFest concert.
