Donald Glover continues to plant his feet into our conscious mind by making all of the right moves. The producer/writer/comedian/rapper/musician/commentator has signed on to work with FX, Marvel and ABC to bring a still-to-be-titled animated Deadpool series to the small screen.
Assisting on the series will be his brother Steven who wrote four episodes of Donald’s show Atlanta which also airs on FX.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the network could not be more thrilled after finding previous success with both the Glover brothers and the X-Men-themed series Legion.
“Donald Glover is an incredibly gifted and versatile artist who’ll bring the untitled Marvel’s Deadpool series to life with the same intense, singular vision as his breakout hit Atlanta,” said FX president of original programming Nick Grad. “With the success of Legion, we’re looking forward to again partnering with Marvel Television to create a series that is bold, striking and entirely original.”
The Glovers will are on deck to executive produce, write and serve as showrunners for the series which will currently have a season 1 run of 10 episodes.
Marvel’s Jeph Loeb and Jim Chory are also executive producing and it was their idea to bring Deadpool to FX.
“How much more fun could this be? Deadpool, Donald and FX — the perfect fit for the Merc with the Mouth! We’re thrilled that our relationship with FX that started with Legion continues with what is sure to be a groundbreaking show in adult animation,” Loeb said.
Writing is already underway in London where Glover is filming his scenes as a young Lando Calrissian in the upcoming Hans Solo film for the Star Wars franchise.
Atlanta fans need not fear a thing as that show’s sophomore season has already been written and will roll out in 2018.
In the meantime, appreciate the other shades of Glover and bump his latest musical effort under his Childish Gambino alias.
