The NFL is going to make standout wide receiver Josh Gordon pay dearly for his past misdeeds.
On Thursday, it was reported that the league is denying the speedy receiver’s application for reinstatement after his fourth suspension for violating the league’s substance abuse policy.
It was previously thought that the Cleveland Browns would have access to Gordon as of today but as it stands Gordon will have to wait until the fall to reapply.

Gordon who was a running mate of troubled quarterback Johnny Manziel has struggled with his use of marijuana since he came into the league.
Though he has stayed in phenomenal shape, the powers-that-be felt it necessary to postpone his reentry into prominence.
This places his future in jeopardy. Even if he his reinstated in the fall, all 32 teams will have their depth charts settled by that point.
What it boils down to is that regardless of his talent, Josh Gordon will most likely have to clear three hurdles before he can get back on the field.
The first is obviously reinstatement. The second is living at the mercy of the Browns who most likely will want to trade him t get something back from their investment. The third will be finding a team that is willing to do business with him and Cleveland to get him into their lockeroom.
The most likely scenario is that a starter gets hurt elsewhere and a team is forced to move to get deal done.
That is a whole lot of ifs ands and buts to base one’s career around.
It’s safe to say that with so many rookies and new faces, the Browns will want to get move on from old bad habits.
