Atlanta Rapper Gucci Mane has decided to drop his new album on the day that he was released from prison. On Friday, May 26th it will be a year since he gained his freedom back. The new album is titled Drop Top Wop.
Produced entirely by Metro Boomin, the album will feature 10 tracks. Metro is a popular Atlanta producer who has worked with artists like Future, Migos, 21 Savage, and Kanye West. The album features Rick Ross, 2 Chainz, Young Dolph, and Offset of Migos. Gucci Mane has also released the music video for his single “Hurt Feelings”, which is also on the album. The entire video takes place at a strip club and was directed by Atlanta photographer and director Cam Kirk.
After his release, Gucci immediately went back to work. He slowly began to retake the music industry by storm. In July of last year, he released his first solo album in roughly five years titled Everybody Looking. “Back on Road” featuring Drake became the front runner on the album, even though it was the second single. Other guests on the album included Kanye West and Young Thug. He then released The Return of East Atlanta Santa at the end of last year. Another track with Drake, “Both“, became the popular single. It’s currently still getting radio play and climbing the charts.
In addition to working on his own projects, Gucci has also been lending his talents to appearing on other artists’ songs. He appeared on up-and-coming female rapper Dreezy‘s “We Gon Ride” and filmed the music video with her in Atlanta. Other popular tracks that he’s been featured on include Rae Sremmund‘s “Black Beetle“, 2Chainz’s “Good Drank“, and Chris Brown‘s “Party“. Most recently he’s featured on the remix of Pop sensation Bruno Mars‘ “That’s What I Like”, alongside Atlanta rapper Ludacris. The song is constantly getting radio play on almost every Hip-Hop, R&B, and Pop station in the nation.
Gucci Mane’s Drop Top Wop is now available on iTunes.
