New Orleans‘ biggest Halloween event, Voodoo Music+ Art Experience, also known as Voodoo Festival, has released it’s 2017 lineup, and it is going to be LIT!
Anyone who visits the Big Easy during the week of Halloween knows that the biggest event in town is the appropriately named “Voodoo Festival.” Each year on Halloween weekend in New Orleans, thousands descend on City Park, for an experience to “worship the music” at an event that embodies the mysterious, mischevious, artistic and music driven soul of the city.
This year for its 17th annual lineup, the organizers pulled no punches when they sought out some of the most talented and entertaining artists for the show. They released the lineup today via Instagram, which includes acts you usually never see in the same place at the same time besides and awards show, which is why Voodoo is known as a “Gumbo” of music and art.
Kendrick Lamar, The Foo Fighters, The Killers, LCD Soundsystem, and DJ Snake are headlining this year’s event which includes over 60 other bands and musicians such as Kehlani, Prophets of Rage, Post Malone, Miguel, Crystal Castles, and The Afghan Whigs.
In 2016 the energy from the festival was on fire with performances by The Weeknd, Tool, Die Antwoord, Arcade Fire, Puscifer, The Chainsmokers, G-Easy, Rae Sremmurrd, The Pretty Reckless, and The Preservation Hall Jazz Band. Each year this event brings something for everyone to enjoy with the eclectic mix of rock, rap, soul, blues, jazz, and electronica.
If you aren’t coming to the city just for the music, this festival has an amazing plethora of things to do when you aren’t rocking your heart out. Live art installations, amusement park rides, a haunted mortuary, as well as some of the best food you can imagine, are to be enjoyed all in the heart of the enigmatic city known for its resilience and epic art of the party.
General Admission for this event is $140+ fees for all three days of the event which is awesome for the amount of talent you see and activity options in comparison to fests that will cost you a semester’s worth of tuition when you are done planning.
