Rapper Deraj has debuted his new single “Watching” featuring Canon and Aaron Cole. The song talks about doing what you have to do, regardless if anyone is taking notice. Like many people who grind hard to make something happen. Success doesn’t lie in the approval of others, but in a person’s satisfaction of themselves.
Produced by Derek Minor, the high-energy track contains themes of hard work, self-improvement, and pleasing no one but yourself and God. Catering to this notion Deraj explains, “Although we work hard and strive for greatness, at times it feels our best efforts can go unnoticed,” and “One thing we can be sure of is that God’s validation is all we need.” It’s the perfect song for the hustlers and grinders. People who strive for better, but don’t need an audience’s approval to reach their goals.
Deraj made his debut in 2014 with his first EP Mirrors & Medicine. In 2016, he followed up with another EP, For the People, a collaboration with B. Cooper, as well as singles “Know That’s Me” featuring KVNG and “Sometimes” featuring Adrian Stresow.
Deraj’s music has been featured on national media outlets such as NBC’s America’s Got Talent, footwear retailer Journeys, as well as major sporting events including NCAA, NBA Finals, NFL and ESPN’s First Take. He also performs and does public speaking nationally.
“Watching” is the follow up single to Deraj’s “Way Up” and Sometimes”. He plans on releasing his third EP in the late Summer. Deraj has yet to release the title of the upcoming project. However, if there are songs similar to or better than “Watching”, it will easily blow some of the projects coming from high publicized artists out of the water.
