Review: DJ Khaled is Grateful For Music

DJ Khaled unites the hip-hop kingdom

DJ KhalidDJ Khaled once again proves his musical genius with the new album, Grateful.

Featuring the biggest names in R&B and Hip-Hop, Grateful had already found tremendous success with the singles “I’m the One” and “Wild Thoughts.” Executively produced by DJ Khalid’s nine month old son, Grateful features Beyonce and JAY Z to Justin Bieber, Drake, Rihanna,  Nicki Minaj, Chance the Rapper, Alicia Keys, Future, and others, Grateful  continues Khalid’s grand tradition of collecting the hits.

DJ Khaled has a way of bringing together the best artists to create music so out of this world, nothing else can compare. Each song on this album is a hit in and of itself.

So much talent packed into twenty-three tracks, Grateful is sure to be one of the best albums of the year. Grateful starts on an emotional note with the track, “I’m so Grateful.” DJ Khaled and Sizzla put together an incredibly powerful track, showing DJ Khaled’s true gratitude for his success, and his love for his son.

The album moves into “Shining” which is all about success, making it fitting that it’s Beyonce and JAY Z’s track. “To the Max” follows with Drake breathing his style into the fabric of the groove.

Travis Scott, Rick Ross, and Big Sean bring one of the best rap tracks on the album with “On Everything.”

The combination of Nicki Minaj and Alicia Keys is seriously a gift. “Nobody” may be the best track on the album; inspiring, empowering, and beautiful beyond words. It’s an anthem. “I Love You So Much” shows a love for family, both DJ Khaled’s son Asahd and Chance the Rapper’s family being thanked and praised in the song.

Some of the more upbeat tracks include, “Don’t Quit” with Calvin Harris, Travis Scott, and Jeremih and “Down for Life” with PARTYNEXTDOOR, Future, and Travis Scott.

Continuing through the album, each song continues to cement the pure magic that is Grateful. This album is a gift to music, with each track proving to be unbelievably amazing.

Grateful closes with “Unchanging Love” by Mavado, and “Asahd Talk (Thank You Asahd)” which is a short, 16 second thank you to DJ Khaled’s son.

Grateful is a must listen. It is absolutely a work of art.
