Today, Christian Dior showed their Haute Couture Fall/Winter 17/18 show in Paris, and it was nothing less than transformative.
Maria Grazia Chiuri has shown her third collection for the brand, and we must say that her vision is becoming clear. For this collection, the designer partnered with her friend and artist Pietro Ruffo to create an imaginative trip into the wild. Ruffo created the set for the show, which was an abstract view of the continents where Dior’s designs walked freely amongst wooden sculptures of exotic animals. In a sneak peek on their Instagram page, Dior gave a glimpse of the show’s space praising Maria and Pietro’s vision:
“His imaginative decor traces the Earth and the celestial sphere with poetic grace in a star-shaped amphitheater with a runway in the same form, each branch corresponding to a continent containing wooden sculptures of animals!”

#MariaGraziaChiuri called on the Italian artist Pietro Ruffo to design the set for today's Autumn-Winter 2017-18 haute couture show. His imaginative decor traces the Earth and the celestial sphere with poetic grace in a star-shaped amphitheater with a runway in the same form, each branch corresponding to a continent containing wooden sculptures of animals! From a giraffe, a rhinoceros and a lion in the African savanna to a tiger and a monkey in the depths of the Asian jungle! Globetrotting magic! #DiorCouture
The sun was shining as Chiuri’s third collection for the brand was shown today, and it was a resplendent representation of what we all know and love about the French fashion house. The balance of the spirit of a strong woman mixed with the delicate femininity nature this collection was, in essence, a homage to the Dior woman of the past melded with the modern Dior muse.
A few of the famous muses of the house were in attendance including legendary songstress Céline Dion, actress Jennifer Lawrence and long-time actress and muse of the brand Natalie Portman, who received a joyous welcome from the brand via Instagram.
“In addition to so much else, today’s Autumn-Winter 2017-18 haute couture show also marked the return of long-term House muse Natalie Portman, lighting up the front row with her radiant smile, dressed in Dior by #MariaGraziaChiuri!
Portman looked absolutely gorgeous in a black v-neck dress from the house. As the week rolls on, we are sure to see her as well as many others line the front rows of our favorite brands.
