Rap Duo Rae Sremmurd Sued For Throwing Full Bottle of Water

It’s not uncommon for an artist to get hot while they’re performing… jumping across the stage, with spotlights beating down, as the crowd packs into a stuffy venue, can definitely work up a sweat. However, according to TMZ, Hip-Hop duo Rae Sremmurd didn’t just splash water on fans, they hucked full bottles of water.

An unidentified concert-goer from Michigan is suing the duo for recklessly throwing bottles, which he claims caused permanent scarring and disfigurement.

Based on court documents, the incident occurred during a performance in October 2016, during which rappers Swae Lee and Slim Jxmmi offered no warning before launching the bottles into the crowd, one of which, smashed up the plaintiff’s nose and face.

TMZ reported the claim, on Sept. 5th, following claims that the man was hit so forcefully that “a chunk of his face” was ripped off. The plaintiff was immediately rushed to the hospital where he was treated for the injury.

Rae Sremmurd are being sued for negligence, assault, and battery. The plaintiff is also requesting they pay for his medical bills along with damages.

This is not the first instance of an artist being sued regarding concert-related injuries.

According to Billboard, a Canadian judge recently moved to stay trial over a stage collapse during a 2012 performance in Toronto, which killed Radiohead‘s drum tech.

Earlier this year, a North Carolina woman reportedly sued Gwen Stefani, and concert promoters Live Nation, after a “stampede” of rushing fans trampled over her, leaving her with a broken leg.

California rapper, Snoop Dogg, was also cleared in a lawsuit this year, following an incident that took place during a concert in 2016. According to XXL, the front row railing collapsed, sending fans falling 10 feet onto a concrete floor. As a result, 17 fans filed a lawsuit against Snoop and Wiz Khalifa.
