Looking Back on 2017’s Hottest Fashion Trends

The Best of 2017

The new year is upon us, and we can’t look forward to 2018’s future trends and styles without looking back and appreciating the fashion of 2017.

From chokers to scrunchies, 2017 was all about retuning to former eras and bringing back some of their biggest fashion moments. Here are the hottest, most-worn fashion trends of 2017:

Belt Bags:

Carrie Bradshaw made belt bags relevant in Sex and the City, but now they’re more popular than ever. Both stylish and functional, fashion it girls everywhere have been sporting belt bags, or fanny packs, by Gucci, Chanel, and other high end brands. I hope this trend follows us into 2018.

Whether worn with sneakers or heels, side striped tack pants were huge in 2017. They’re reminiscent of the track pant days of the 90’s but we completely understand why they came back in style- the stripes are both unique and slimming, elongating your legs for miles.

Vans:

The sneaker brand never actually went out of style, but Vans’s classic Old Skool Sneaker became popularized like never before. Everyone from Chiara Ferragni to Kourtney Kardashian couldn’t get enough of these easy, black and white sneakers.

Loafers With Fur Inside:

Gucci made the fur loafers a must-have shoe, but more affordable brands such as Steve Madden and Target’s A New Day created almost identical pairs with price tags that were more appealing to the masses. Loafers, both with and without fur, have become the perfect laidback shoe. It seems fashion is finally taking comfort into consideration.

Puffer Coats and Jackets:

These aren’t your average fifth grader’s puffer jackets. Puffers are cool again, either hip length or longer, paired with jeans and your favorite sneakers.

Fishnets:

Fishnet tights were a prominent fashion accessory for most of 2017. We saw celebrities and fashion influencers pair them with heels and sneakers, under ripped jeans, and even sticking out above waist bands. Fishnets add some flair to any look, however I can’t imagine that they provide much warmth.

Baker Boy Caps:

Some people love it, a lot of people hate it. Either way, there’s no denying that baker boy caps have been huge over the past few months. They’re the perfect solution for bad hair days and look effortlessly cool paired with almost any look. Prediction for 2018: Berets are going to be everywhere.

We can’t wait to see all of the fashion hits…and definitely a few misses… that 2018 will bring us!
