The Italian luxury fashion company, Versace has a lovely way of reminiscing. Versace dedicates their Spring Summer 2018 campaign to the founder and those who’ve had the opportunity to work closely with the brand. The campaign is portraying the connection between the past and the present, while representing the brand’s impact on the fashion industry.
Shot by American fashion photographer, Steven Meisel, the ad includes iconic models modeling the talents of the late founder, Gianni Versace, marking his 20th anniversary of his death next year. His sister, also artistic director of the brand, Donatella Versace, clearly does not fail to keep his legacy alive by her modern designs with bold looks and venerated prints in her collection.
The brand celebrates its 40th anniversary by displaying images of iconic models and new faces of the modeling industry, modeling Donatella’s Tribute collection. The collection displays the empowerment and inspiration left behind by Gianni.
Iconic forces include Naomi Campbell, Christy Turlington, Gisele Bündchen, Irina Shayk, Raquel Zimmerman, Natalia Vodianova, Gigi Hadid, Vittoria Ceretti, Kaia Gerber, Cara Taylor, Birgit Kos, Grace Elizabeth, and Noah Luis Brown.
“This campaign represents the link between past and present. You need to know who you are, and where you are coming from, to build your future. And when you are at the head of a brand with such a strong heritage as mine, you can only embrace it. This is the reason why I wanted to see this iconic supermodel cast next to the soon-to-be-iconic girls of the future.” – Donatella Versace
