The grizzly barbarian Conan will make his way back to Marvel Comics in 2019. The rights for the iconic character have been released from Dark Horse Comics who have held Conan in their vast library since 2003.
Marvel Comics held the character since his first appearance back in the 1970s to the year 2000.
Classic stories will be retold and reprinted to unleash the full spectrum of the hero. The multiple titles to emerge under the Conan name range from The Adventures of Conan the Barbarian, Savage Sword of Conan, Conan the Savage, and Conan the Adventurer amongst many others.
The savage was created by Robert E. Howard in 1935.
Writer C.B. Cebulski told Marvel his excitement for the character to be returning to its original publisher and what is planned for the savage barbarian.
“From Barry Windsor-Smith to John Buscema to Neal Adams, a legendary lineup of amazing artists brought Conan to life in the pages of Marvel comics. It’s a legacy we’re now going to live up to with the talent we have lined up for the Cimmerian barbarian’s homecoming in early 2019. We’re excited!”
He is the type of warrior that plays by his own rules as new comics will emerge in his name everyone will know the savage might behind his great sword.
The following year will give the comic book community the opportunity to experience a hero that laid the foundation for many others to appear throughout history.
The next year will also include more storylines for the hero that have never told before. The epic journey continues for the lone warrior to reclaim the spotlight of comics everywhere come next year 2019.
