Missoni unveiled their Fall 2018 Menswear collection on January 14th during Milan Fashion Week, reminding us of the brand’s ability to create beautiful soft silhouettes and brilliant colors.
Missoni mastered the art of pattern play and continues to offer unique and innovative looks, using 45 different colors on just one mohair coat. Orange, blue, and bronze tones were very popular throughout the collection. One look juxtaposed solid blue velvet pants with a plaid belted coat, adding an element of simplicity to the busier pieces.
Missoni’s designer, Angela Missoni, credited New York City’s creative scene in the 1970’s as her inspiration for the collection and it definitely showed. The brand displayed loose fitting garments in relaxed fits. Layering was also commonplace with turtlenecks under checkered parkas, cardigans, and blazers. The comfortable fit paired with various layers were reminiscent of 70’s men’s fashion.
The brand’s classic knitwear was on full display with knit skinny ties, striped berets, and v-neck sweater vests. One ensemble featured loose fitting dress pants, a black and red striped sweater over a blue shirt, and an orange and black beret. Missoni targets men with eclectic taste, not afraid to stand out and ideally, men with a love for knitwear.
The brand continues to stay true to what they do best: color, pattern, and knit. However, they are also able to create new and exciting looks, keeping Missoni relevant and in the spotlight season after season.
