On Thursday, Kim Jones unveiled his final runway collection as the artistic director for Louis Vuitton during Paris Fashion Week. After seven years of working for the luxurious brand, the London-based designer focused solely on his passion for the brand that night, despite of his departure.

“We’ve ended on a good note, we’re all friends and that’s nice, so that’s it. I’m just talking about Vuitton today, because today’s about Vuitton, OK?”  the designer said backstage after the show.

The 38-year-old put on a spectacular show; it almost made it hard to believe it was his final.  His admiration for an endless journey in life displayed through the breathtaking effects of each mink coat and silk jacquard top.

Jones titled the collection, ‘Overview’ to consider the aerial images of the Kenyan landscape. His sportswear collection was inspired by lava landscape craters and stalagmites, displaying the mineral tones and metallic effects.

The collection included glazed monogrammed pieces, glossy aviator jackets and hiking Louis boots. Jones considered layering in his upscale streetwear as he included the perfect sleek turtleneck with “Louis” splayed across the neck, hidden under raincoats.

Bright tones like neon yellow, orange and silver reproduced the colors of rocks, slate, granite, and sandstone.

The constant fanning gesture for a little fresh air at the overheated tent was not what drew attention to the audience. The guest included familiar faces in the front row like The Beckhams, Joe Jonas, and soccer star Neymar. Stefano Pilati, Virgil Abloh, Heron Preston and Craig Green, also attended the runway show in support.

Jones ended the show epically, with supermodels Naomi Campbell and Kate Moss closing the show, wearing glazed monogrammed trench coats and hiking boots. The iconic duo then joined Jones for a lap of victory.  Jones’ pieces and designs were about “discovering something new. A constant voyage.”

Whether it refers to the collection or his departure, the show represented his passion for travel and exploration. His legacy with the luxurious brand will inspire many to take on an endless journey themselves, even if it means leaving a lot behind.
