Miami Heat gets an upgrade

On Thursday, January 25th, the Heat will unveil their “Vice” City Edition uniform designed by graphic designer, Brett Maurer.

The new urban uniforms are inspired by Miami’s rich culture and history, particularly in the 1980’s. The Vice campaign is meant to depict the future as imagined in that decade. When designing the uniforms, Maurer retained the classic Heat silhouette first introduced in 1988, but the similarities end there.

The team’s customary colors of red and orange are replaced with bright, neon pink and electric teal blue. “Miami” is written in cursive across the chest in original Miami Arena lettering. Lastly, the iconic Heat basketball and flame logo are remodeled in the same pink and blue color combination.

Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer, Michael McCullough commented on the meaning of the new uniforms to NBA saying,

“The Vice uniform is our splashy ode to the City of Miami, its distinctive history, its iconic place in the annals of popular culture. For years we’ve talked about creating a uniform that embodies Miami’s intrinsic uniqueness and one that would be instantly recognizable to our fans. Vice is something special and we’re ecstatic to share it with HEAT Nation.”
