Inspired by Paris in the 1920s Elie Saab’s Spring 2018 collection, brings life to the glitz and glam of the era with a reimagined feel. The show transported the audience to a different time period, where people partied day and night and elaborate gowns were worn as party dresses- hence the show’s name, Paris est une Fête.

Featuring whimsical designs in a muted palette of silvery blue, champagne, and black with just a hint of rose, each look was more captivating than the next. A sheer element was seen throughout the collection with feathers, beads, and wrapped bows that created a quirky display of Art Deco arrangements that made up the embroidery.

As every dress graced the runway, you could almost envision the vintage fabrics, furniture décor, and wallpaper that inspired them. The imaginative collection was riddled with almost risqué necklines that scooped below the sternum.

At a glance, the sparkly cloches appeared to be perfectly covered in beaded embellishments. With a closer look, they took art forms that matched the artistic designs from the dress they were paired with.

The long flowy trains and simple accessories further pushed the luxurious feel of the collection. Every design told a different story of fun, carefree nights filled with classic elegance, think F. Scott Fitzgerald’s novel, The Great Gatsby brought to life.

Paris est une Fête was a show that took the beauty and elegance from the 1920s and transported it to an era full of streetwear and contemporary pieces.
